THE
PROSPECT
There once was a motorman, who
lived by the sea He dotted every "i" and crossed every "t" Once there was a partner, to help in his plight, The partner was gone now - it was never to be He searched for a partner, to fill in the space He ended his search, to go it alone The motorman was lonely, in his work you know! No one to show how things should be- One warm and beautiful day The Prospect was eager and wanted to
know. To show the young Prospect how great work
could be, For years they worked on the projects at hand. The motorman watched moves the Prospect
did make. The bright young Prospect had learned to
be- The bright young Prospect began to
feel, The motorman resisted the Prospects
request. The Prospect insisted, "It just has to
be"! The motorman knew, for a partner to be - He took a motor; put it on stand. Fear that gripped him, and just wouldn’t stop. With motor on stand - all birds in their nest He will return! - after the snow Barnum Taylor © 1996 |
